Kristen Ashley’s THE HOOKUP – Release Day Launch

But Johnny makes it clear he wants more and Izzy already knows she wants as much of hot-in-bed, sweet-out-of-it Johnny Gamble. Floating on air thinking this is going somewhere, Izzy quickly learns why Johnny holds distant. Someone who left him and did it leaving him broken. Whoever was up next would be runner up, second best. Until out of nowhere, his lost love comes back to town. And Izzy knew the stakes, so she makes it easy and slips though his fingers. That and the fact Eliza Forrester makes breakfast with a canary singing on her shoulder and fills out tight dresses in a way Johnny Gamble cannot get out of his head. As always with a KA book, it read like a beautiful dream with her typical flair for character traits and descriptive writing from start to finish.

Kristen Callihan

No falling in love Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good.

Author division Kristen Callihan is currently considered a “single author.” If one or more works are by a distinct, homonymous authors, go ahead and split the author.

And it’s beautiful to me, but I didn’t know how to live under your light. That is only gloss. But, Anna, you light me up. I don’t have a light anymore unless you’re there. I’m asking myself why in the hell did I wait so long to read this book??!! I was told that this was similar to “The Deal”. Yes, there were a couple similarities but the two stories are vastly different in my opinion.

Review: The Hook Up (Game On, #1) by Kristen Callihan

The Hook Up Release Date: September 8, Genre: New Adult Summary The rules: Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good.

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all No falling in love. Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life.

Really enjoyed this one. First off, the cover for this book is totally off-putting. This not at all how I imagine Drew to look like. Second off, I usually avoid NA books. Well I am a 48 year old mother of a son who just started university. This, my friends, is a fail moment for me. I seem to be having a lot of those in the book world.

Too many books and not enough time I say. It was swoony, sweet, and sexy. Everything I love in a rom And it’s beautiful to me, but I didn’t know how to live under your light. That is only gloss. But, Anna, you light me up.

{Release Day Review} The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan @Kris10Callihan

With a helping of right-the-fuck-now on the side. When I hear the genre of New Adult attached to a book, I roll my eyes and move on. I gave it a shot, I really did. After a couple of books I realized the drama llama aspect was not my thing. Then I find out one of my favorite authors has an NA series coming out and so many thoughts go through my head. Why being the first one.

Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. What mostly interested me in the summary of The Hook Up is the meeting between a regular student and the world of college football. Maybe because college football seems so different and way more grandiloquent than everything taking place in French universities.

Therefore I liked the glimpse that the book offered in this world without being the main focus of the story.

Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. It’s a good thing Drew knows all about winning. Was it the hot guy on the cover? There was just something pulling me in. Then I read the blurb and was done for. So after all of the chemistry I felt with this book before even reading it, was it everything I hoped it would be? The Hook Up was a lot of fun, but had its share of issues both characters had to work through.

Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. This was when I started to feel feelings of excitement as I wanted to read faster to find out what was going to happen next, although despite the lack of fast pace in the beginning I did find her writing easy to digest The Hook Up follows the similar route of many new adult romances by incorporating an alternative chapter system in terms of point of view.

Despite the similarity in form The Hook Up does differ in content, the premise of the book is boy meets girl but rather than the storyline following their journey to falling in love it follows our two main characters; Anna and Drew as they establish a physical connection early. As I previously stated, personally for me the second half of the novel picked up in pace and flowed much better.

Followed by an unexpected sports injury which offers a build up of tension for the two characters as we question whether there is hope and happiness for them individually or together. Like a freaking diamond.
